The short film features professional skydiving instructor Nicole Smith-Ludvik standing on top of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, at a dizzying height of 828 meters. The ad not only impressed viewers but also left many questioning whether it was real or a clever use of special effects.

The Message Behind the Stunt

As the camera zooms out, it’s revealed that Nicole is standing at the very pinnacle of the Burj Khalifa, balancing on a narrow platform against the backdrop of the expansive Dubai skyline. The ad concludes with the tagline, “See you in Dubai,” followed by Emirates’ signature branding.

Social Media Buzz and Doubts

Viewers were left in awe, but many questioned the authenticity of the stunt. Was Nicole really standing atop the Burj Khalifa, or was it all green screen trickery? Emirates soon put all speculation to rest by releasing a behind-the-scenes video, revealing that the stunt was real and had no digital manipulation involved.

How It Was Filmed

The stunt was carefully executed with extreme precision and safety measures. A custom-built platform with an attached pole was created for Nicole to stand on. She was secured to the structure at three points using a hidden harness system, cleverly concealed beneath her Emirates uniform.

Reaching the summit of the Burj Khalifa presents a significant challenge. Nicole and her team required 1 hour and 15 minutes to ascend from level 160, which is the highest point open to the public. Upon arrival at the top, the team dedicated approximately 5 hours to filming the advertisement. The footage was captured using a single drone in a single continuous shot, resulting in one of the most remarkable advertisements ever recorded at such a height.
